RESILIENCE

What will you do?
The recent catastrophic events in world are a grim example of the power and effect a major natural disaster can have on a community. And Wellington is no exception we are famous for being windy Wellington right.
  • Wellington, situated on a major fault line, is also under constant threat of a major earthquake and could also be equally devastated by not only a earthquake, but by a natural disaster.
  •  You have had your water and power supply cut-off for a few hours you and know how frustrating it can be.
  • Now remember you can't take a shower, flush the toilet, wash the dishes, boil or even fill a kettle for a cup of tea or coffee. You can't watch TV, search the internet, turn on the lights, cook anything, and then your telephone won’t work either.
  • Living conditions become rather basic and inconvenient - but it's only for a few hours and you can cope with that - right.

How would you cope?
· If you had to evacuate your home in an emergency what would you take?
· If your home was made unsafe, where in Newlands would or could you go?
· Where are your immediate family members - and what are they going to do and where will they go?
· Have you stored some drinking water - have you stored enough?
· What about food, batteries, flashlight, radio etc?

A strong community will survive the longest "know your neighbors"
